INTERNATIONAL PAVILIONS TO INCREASE AT THAILAND’S ‘DEFENSE & SECURITY’ 2011

At Bangkok’s  last Defense & Security exhibition in 2009, many international  pavilions doubled in size from the 2007 event. In fact  the Singapore and Czech Republic Pavilions actually tripled in size and the Belarus Pavilion, the country’s first, occupied a whopping 96 square meters.

For the 2011 show at least 15 national pavilions are expected. They will include multi-business displays from - Israel, France, South Korea, Germany, Russia, the USA, China, Poland, Singapore, the Czech Republic, Belarus, and Thailand.

In fact Defense & Security 2011 is now shaping up to be larger and better than any previous show as Thai and ASEAN military spending continues to rise. Top Thai military brass from all  three armed forces will be in attendance  along with the  Defence Ministers and  representatives of many ASEAN countries.

THAILAND HIKES MILITARY SPENDING

Budgets for Thailand’s three services have just been substantially increased, making the host country a major customer for international defense manufacturers. Internal security and crowd control equipment is expected to head wish lists and Internal and Homeland Security sections will be greatly expanded at the show. Budget increases are as follows…

Royal Thai Army: Budget up by 7,644.6 million to 83,506.8 million Baht

Royal Thai Navy: Budget up by 3,684.1 million to 33,506.6 million Baht

Royal Thai Airforce: Budget up by 3,123.4 million to 31,817.5 million Baht

Supreme Command Headquarter: Expected to receive 13,676.3 million Baht – an increase of 1.006.8 million.
